Google new knowledge platform called knol is an approach similar to wikipedia in regard to the diversity of its contents. The difference however is that the creator of an article stays in charge of all revisions made through collaborative input of other users. In addition, reviews on an article can be made and the article itself can be rated.
Here is the link to my first knol about Information Architecture starting like this …
The Architecture of the Information Age
Information is the cornerstone of modern society. The radical evolution of computational methods and the advent of the Internet have completely changed the way we deal with information today.
Mendeley is a genious tool + social network application that lets you organize scientific papers and articles floating around on your hard drive. besides the amazing offline features such as organizing, tagging, combining and annotation it also comes with some neat network features.
For example: It allows you to save your papers in an online deposit (and in case of a hard-drive crash recover them from there again) and publish individual sets online as references so others can search and browse them. You can add papers from other users to you own library or subscribe to interesting collections.
Here is the current contents of my Information Architecture Collection of research papers and scientific articles:

Hello,
I am Steve Stein, M.Sc. in Digital Media and Diploma Computer Scientist (Media Informatics). My special interest is “Information Architecture (IA)” and I am active in this area for about 10 years now. Besides my Master Thesis about handling Information in the Information Age and my earlier Diploma Thesis about Information Usability and Accessibility I am lately exploring the area of Information Architecture (IA) as well as User Experience (UX) Design, Semantic Web (Web 3.0) Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Search Engine Engineering (SEE).
With this Blog I just started combining my various scientific profiles, research resources and useful presentations/documents for the area of “User Experience (UX) Design” under the hood of a blog. This should help to keep up with my different shared articles, tweets and social links in the area of “Information Architecture (IA)“.
I hope you will find some interesting resources on these pages and I would be happy about any comments, feedback or hints about new and exciting developments.
Best,
Steve Stein
